My Background

Gloria Valdivieso is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 20 years of experience providing individual psychotherapy for adults, adolescents and couples. She maintains a private practice in Weston Florida and helps clients from diverse ethnic, cultural, religious and spiritual backgrounds as well as all sexual orientations.   Gloria specializes in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Therapy) an innovative treatment approach, which helps a person see unsettling events in less distressing ways, and has been proven effective in treating stress, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, panic attacks, abuse, phobias, addictions, grief, and others.  Blending conventional and alternative approaches, she draws on a variety of styles and techniques to incorporate what will be most helpful for each client, reestablishing balance and guiding them through what feels like overwhelming obstacles and challenges.  She is also a native Spanish speaker and have extensive experience on Latin-American and cross-cultural issues.

Gloria's diverse background also includes five years as a clinical counselor at a government funded mental health agency. Working with a diverse clientele including people living with HIV/AIDS, gender and sexual orientation issues, provided her with extensive experience dealing with  more serious mental health conditions, addictions and the detrimental effects of childhood trauma and neglect.

Presently Gloria is a Doctoral candidate in Social Work , specializing in Trauma -Informed Care at Barry University
Gloria received her bachelors in psychology from Florida International University and her Masters Degree in Social Work from Barry University in the year 2000. After completing a two year internship and passing the State Board exam Gloria received her professional LCSW (SW#10001)
